Policy Leadership at Cornell AI Alignment
How should governments and institutions govern increasingly capable AI systems?
Visit Cornell AI AlignmentIn brief
Cornell AI Alignment is a community of students and faculty working to reduce risks and improve the trajectory of AI development. The organization brings technical AI safety together with policy, governance, and the broader societal effects of increasingly capable systems. As Policy Lead, I lead the policy reading group and co-mentor CAIA’s Fall 2026 AI Policy and Governance research team.
What I do
- 01Lead the policy reading group, using research and discussion to connect technical AI developments with regulation, governance institutions, economic effects, and other societal impacts.
- 02Co-mentor the AI Policy and Governance research project with Rittik Bhattacharya. The student team will select a focused question—such as regulation, compute governance, or the economic effects of AI—and develop a policy report for decision-makers.
- 03Help researchers scope tractable questions, navigate the relevant technical and policy literature, and translate analysis into clear, decision-relevant writing.
- 04Contribute to CAIA’s broader learning and research community, which includes weekly reading groups and discussions, guest talks, workshops, a student-led AI safety course, and mentored research projects.
